Owner's comments
Description of the Wauquiez Hood 38 DL MK2
I am selling my sailboat, a WAUQUIEZ HOOD 38 from 1984, specifically the second version MK2. It features a sloop rig, constructed with thick polyester resin, making it a very sturdy boat!
I am the third owner and am selling it reluctantly due to health reasons. I have enjoyed sailing for 14 years in Brittany, Gascony, with annual trips to Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall...
It is very comfortable with its 2 cabins, a large living space in the saloon, which can be converted into a 2-person berth. It has forced air heating, hot water under pressure, 2 toilets (one with a black water tank never used), a complete kitchen with a worktop, double sink, gas stove with oven, microwave, and a sound system with speakers inside and outside.
History of the Wauquiez Shipyard
The Wauquiez shipyard, founded in 1964 by Jean Wauquiez, is a renowned French shipyard for the construction of high-quality sailboats. The Hood 38 was produced between 1978 and 1989, with a total of 179 units. This model was a great success thanks to its elegant design and exceptional performance. The shipyard has evolved over the years, integrating modern technologies and high-quality materials to meet the needs of sailors.
History of the Hood 38 Model
The Wauquiez Hood 38 was designed by naval architect Ted Hood, known for his expertise in performance and comfort. This model was produced in several versions, the MK2 being an improved evolution. The Hood 38 is appreciated for its elegance, interior comfort, and sailing performance. It was designed to offer a perfect balance between comfort and performance, making it a popular choice among sailors.
Why this boat is interesting?
The Wauquiez Hood 38 DL MK2 is particularly interesting for several reasons. First, it offers exceptional comfort with its two cabins, a large living space convertible into a berth, and high-quality equipment such as forced air heating, hot water under pressure, and a complete kitchen. Additionally, it is equipped with a Yanmar 55 HP engine replaced in 2007, ensuring optimal reliability and performance. The sails were renewed in 2013, and the standing rigging was replaced in 2007, thus ensuring increased safety and efficiency. Finally, the boat has numerous electronic and navigation equipment, such as a Raytheon radar, an Autohelm autopilot, and a complete navigation system with GPS and VHF.
