Videotour of this Catamaran Marquises 56, from Fountaire Pajot shipyard :

This 1998 Fountaine Pajot, Marquises 56 catamaran benefits from a GRP - foam sandwich construction, using unidirectional and bidirectional fabrics, bonded with isophthalic resin, and a PVC foam core. The craft is designed for the sunniest parts of the world, both for private owners or charters, but with the ability to make long passages or ocean crossings if necessary. Special features of the design for use in hot climates include the cab roof overhang, which prevents direct sunlight from hitting the windows, and prevents the greenhouse effect from increasing the interior temperature. This is combined with ten wide-opening windows around the salon, plus hatches inside the hulls, to give excellent ventilation in the hottest conditions.
The sail plan is designed for ease of handling, with a large main jib, but small, easily tacked furling, with no overlap. The standard rig has a clever system that uses the electric anchor windlass to hoist the mainsail, the only heavy operation required.
The mast is from Z-Spars, with the sails from Voile Systems.
The entire interior is covered in exquisite woodwork.
The layout is standard, providing four double cabins for passengers, each with pump heads and fresh water hot and cold showers en suite. The cabins offer ample storage space.
The main living areas are carefully divided between business and cruising pleasure. Thus the saloon is spacious enough for lounging or entertaining, but with a large separate galley for food preparation, and an equally impressive navigation and chart area for serious passage.
The helm station is well placed to one side of the cockpit allowing the rest of the space to be used for enjoying the sun and fresh air, while the decks are divided between sunbathing and water sports, and sailing or anchoring.
Our Marquise 56 benefited from a refit in 2019.
It is aesthetically in good condition.
It will require to be 100% operational for large navigations:
1 new set of sails
Replacement of 60% of the running rigging
A review of the watermaker
A bimini to be overhauled or replaced
Hatches to be waterproofed or replaced
A review of winches
A revision of some electrical connections
Overhaul of the watermaker and replacement of the membranes
The revision of some plumbing elements.
A refit of shafts propellers. One of the two makes a noise to think that the hydrolube rings need to be changed.
