Owner's comments
Dufour 325 Grand Large: A Fast and Comfortable Cruiser
My Dufour 325 is a well-built, seaworthy fast cruiser. It perfectly suits sailors looking for an easy-to-sail, fast, and secure cruising sailboat. It's a limited series "ARPEG".
History of the Dufour 325 Model
The Dufour 325 was designed to combine performance and comfort. Produced between the 1980s and 1990s, this model was a great success thanks to its robustness and seaworthiness. It was mainly built in France and Italy and is appreciated for its versatility, suitable for both cruising and coastal sailing.
History of the Dufour Shipyard
The Dufour shipyard, founded in 1964 by Michel Dufour, is a major player in French boatbuilding. Based in La Rochelle, the shipyard has produced sailboats renowned for their quality and innovation. The Dufour 325 is one of the emblematic models of the brand, symbolizing the excellence and reliability of Dufour constructions.
Condition and Equipment
It's a first-hand boat, and I've never rented it out. The seaworthiness and renowned construction of this sailboat are attested by all nautical literature.
The genoa was renovated in 2022, and the mainsail, lazy bag, and lazy jack were refurbished in 2024. The standing rigging is in good condition. The main mooring with electric windlass, 30 meters of chain and 10 meters of cable.
Tiller steering, Raymarine autopilot, log, depth sounder, anemometer, VHF.
Volvo 19 HP engine with Sail-Drive transmission. Exhaust elbow and gas collector changed in 2025. Antifouling by shipyard every spring, including June 2025.
Aménagements for Comfortable Cruises
Our sailboat stands out as it has been fitted out for comfortable and extended family cruises:
Deck and Cockpit Layout
The deck and cockpit are very well organized. Movement is very easy, whether to go forward or for maneuvers in the cockpit. The cockpit is designed to facilitate maneuvers with a reduced crew, even solo. The version of my Dufour has a tiller, the mainsail halyard winch is struck at the bottom of the cockpit, it can be installed and removed in an instant, freeing up the entire cockpit.
Seagoing Behavior
Concretely, the Dufour 325 is a reassuring sailboat, both in construction and in seagoing behavior. The sailboat loves when the wind picks up, clearly. And the boat remains very well balanced.
Electrical Autonomy
I installed on a portico 2 solar panels of 180 w each which gives perfect electrical autonomy at sea. The headroom is 1.87m under the companionway.
Why is this boat interesting?
The Dufour 325 is interesting for several reasons. First, it offers exceptional comfort thanks to its two double cabins and well-thought-out amenities for family cruises. Then, it has electrical autonomy thanks to its solar panels and service batteries. Additionally, it is equipped with a Volvo 19 HP engine with Sail-Drive transmission, making it both powerful and easy to maneuver. Finally, its antifouling is regularly maintained, ensuring better performance and a longer lifespan.
