Owner's comments
Introduction to the RANGER 32
I am selling my RANGER 32 from 1974, which I dare to describe as "very beautiful". It is a ¾ Tonner IOR designed by Gary MULL, winner of the ¾ Ton Cup de Miami in 1974. This sailboat is an excellent performer in all conditions.
Technical Specifications
This very seaworthy boat, with a high ballast ratio, is in exceptional condition. Fully ready to sail and optimized, this classic sailboat achieves good results in regattas (OSIRIS/ORC 14) and is very pleasant for cruising. Refitted and perfectly maintained, it will be replaced by a larger boat with an interior helm, aimed at cruising and occasional living aboard in more northern regions.
The monolithic polyester lacquered STERLING hull dates from 2005, with a Teflon polish in 2024. No osmosis, 6-layer VCtar treatment. Expertise 2024.
Sails and Rigging
The sails include a DCX 2019 triradial mainsail with cover, a DCX 2019 grey triradial genoa with UV protection strip, a DCX 2020 triradial solent with UV protection strip, a grey Pentex genoa, and a genoa inter mylar in sailing condition. The asymmetric Quantum spinnaker is in good condition and the symmetric spinnaker is new.
The ACMO standing rigging was revised in 2024, and the running rigging is mainly in Dyneema.
Rigging
The BARIENT and LEWMAR winches were revised in 2024. The rigging was completed with SELDEN genoa and mainsail cars. The ANTAL blocks are new, and the FACNOR 150 furler was revised in 2024.
Electronics
The Raymarine I70S 2024 pack includes AIS transmission/reception. The Raymarine EV100 2023 autopilot is also installed. There are 2 Contest 101 compasses and an ASN VHF. The navigation lights are LED Mantagua, with a deck light installed in 2024.
Onboard Comfort
Onboard comfort is ensured by a NV cockpit enclosure. There is hot water under pressure and a WALLAS 85D cooker. The forward cabin has a double berth, while the saloon offers 4 single berths with anti-roll sails. A large berth is located under the cockpit, and the berth cushions are recent. The Jabsco heads were revised in 2024.
The FUSION link RA70 radio is equipped with XS external speakers and 2 Focal internal speakers. The interior lighting is LED, and the varnish is maintained. A large BDF35 cold box refrigerator is installed under the chart table. The water tanks have a capacity of 70L. A side swim ladder and retractable steps in the transom are also present.
Energy and Engine
The batteries include a 95AH AGM engine battery and a Gel UNIBAT 200Ah 2025 service battery. A 100W solar panel is installed, with a Victron regulator and a 20A charger.
The Beta Marine 25hp 2005 engine is in excellent condition, revised in 2024. The bronze stuffing box is new in 2024, and the Eliptec Martec folding racing propeller was reconditioned in 2024. The engine is little used, with harbor maneuvers most often carried out under sail.
Anchoring
The LEWMAR 1000W windlass is equipped with a 20m stainless steel chain and a Squareline 20m warp. A BOMBARD coastal 4-person raft in a bag is to be revised, as well as an inflatable dinghy.
Work to be Done
In the long term, the starboard bench backrest fabric, which has a tear, will need to be repaired, the mainsail halyard, now worn, will need to be replaced, and a new cunningham purchase will need to be studied, as the current one lacks power. Antifouling is scheduled for 2026.
Why the RANGER 32 is Interesting
The RANGER 32 is an exceptional sailboat for several reasons. First, it has a rich history, having won the ¾ Ton Cup de Miami in 1974. Its exceptional condition and regatta performances make it an ideal choice for racing enthusiasts. Additionally, it is perfectly equipped for cruising, with comfortable facilities and state-of-the-art electronics. Its Beta Marine engine and Eliptec Martec folding propeller guarantee reliable and efficient navigation. Finally, its high ballast ratio and monolithic polyester hull make it a very seaworthy boat, capable of sailing in all conditions.
