Ketch Classic Boat - Exceptional Classic Sailboat for Sale
Description
I am selling my Ketch Classic Boat, the larger sibling of the Rorqual, which was touted as the best "racing-cruising" sailboat in the 1970s-1980s. This ketch is a seaworthy, fast, and sturdy boat. It was designed by naval architect Auzépy Brenner to sail safely in the high seas, with a focus on performance and comfort.
Renovation and Equipment
It is superbly equipped, with new gear, the refit having been carried out at the beginning of 2021. A bow thruster was installed at the beginning of 2024. An expertise carried out at the end of the refit in 2021 is available.
Construction and Technical Characteristics
The hull is made of molded wood with three layers of mahogany (18 mm longitudinal inner layer and two 6 mm crossed layers) on laminated frames. Exterior epoxy stratification. The lead ballast is bolted to the keel stub. Rudder on a skeg. Wheel steering on cable drosses. Three-blade bronze propeller.
Deck and Fittings
Deck construction in plywood with teak overlay glued/screwed. Balconies, stanchions, guardrails in stainless steel. Goïot opening deck panels and Goïot sliding panel for cabin entrance.
Rigging and Sails
Rigging revised and completed in 2021: masts and booms in aluminum « Sparcraft », painted « wood ». Furling systems for genoa and staysail « Facnor ». Winches « Harken » and electric windlass « Quick ». Dacron sails with horizontal cut, including a genoa, a staysail, a full-batten mainsail, and a mizzen.
Engine and Electricity
Engine Perkins 4.236 of 80 HP, installed in 2018 and revised in 2021. Electrical equipment including batteries, a charger « Quick » 40 A, solar panels, and a converter « Victron » 500 W. Lecombe and Schmidt linear unit for pilot installed.
Interior Layout
Forward cabin with double berth, passageway with closed bed to starboard, 2 bunk beds to port. Bathrooms with sink, shower, and WC. Saloon with table to starboard, « lounge » area to port. Equipped kitchen with stainless steel stove, refrigerator/freezer, pressure system, and water heater. Heating and air conditioning.
