Owner's comments
Description of the Legend 36
I am currently visible in Panama. My name is Legend 36, a sailboat designed by the famous naval architect Philippe Subrero and built by Alu Plaisance in Aubagne in March 1990. I am a sailboat with an aluminum hull, a plastic deck, and a full keel. My official length is 10.70 meters, but my skirt has been extended by 30 centimeters to integrate an additional compartment. My width is 3.64 meters, and my draft ranges between 1.2 meters and 2.2 meters.
Engine and Performance
I am equipped with a Volvo engine of 29 HP dating from 2005 with 3700 hours of use. This engine produces no smoke and has no oil consumption. It was revised in 2022/2023, with modifications such as changing the exhaust elbow, cleaning the cooling circuit, and repairing the oil pan.
Deck Equipment
On the deck, you will find an electric windlass of 1000 watts with a FOB HP anchor and 60 meters of chain. There is also a Britany anchor at the stern with 25 meters of chain and a roll of 100 meters of warp. An additional FOB HP anchor is available to be pennant with 10 meters of chain. A lightweight aluminum dismountable anchor is also present.
My genoa furler has been equipped with new bearings in 2023. The mast furler was changed in March 2000 and is equipped with mast steps and 2 winches. The classic rigging is oversized with diameters of 7 and 8 millimeters. A removable stay is also installed.
I have a furling genoa changed in March 2008 and still in good condition, as well as a mainsail changed in March 2008 but a bit worn. As a spare, I have a genoa and a mainsail. Two self tailing Lewmar winches for the genoa and two additional winches are also present.
For comfort, I have a bimini top over the companionway and a bimini over the entire width of the cockpit. An Autohelm 6000 pilot from 2015 is installed, with an Autohelm 6000 ram as a spare in the bilge. A Simrad T22 pilot from 2018 is also available as a spare. I have a tiller but it can be converted back to a wheel.
A Raymarine Tridata depth/speed/log from 2012, a wind vane anemometer close-haul from 2000 repaired in 2018, and an omnidirectional TV antenna from 2000 complete my navigation equipment. A deck shower, 6 fenders, and a Hypalon dinghy from 2015 with a cradle are also available. A grapple with 5 meters of chain and a Mariner HB5 CV engine from 2005 are also present.
A boomkin allows for the transport of the dinghy and the engine. Two 100W solar panels, including one portable spare, and two Air X Marine wind generators from 2010 (with a horizontal bearing to be changed) and a Silentwind from 2015 provide renewable energy. A 4-person liferaft from 2017, a water hose on a reel, lines for running rigging, and jerrycans for drinking water, gasoline, and diesel complete my equipment.
Interior of the Boat
In the saloon, you will find 2 fire extinguishers, dishes for 6 people, a stove with burners, oven, and grill, as well as kitchen equipment including a small food processor. A refrigerator cooled by water with a 90-liter storage compartment is installed, as well as a water heater connected to the engine and to 220V to be connected. A desalinator of 25 liters/hour and a Webasto heater on diesel (with piping and ducts to be completely redone) are also present.
A multistandard television, a distress beacon to be changed, a BLU ICOM 225 with antenna tuner and antenna, a complete IRIDIUM 9505 with data collection and SIM card valid until 2025, a fixed VHF from 2005, a portable VHF from 2017, a Raytheon SL70 radar from 2000, a plastic sextant, a pair of binoculars, an NMEA compatible GPS, a backup GPS, an AIS transponder visible from the entire interior of the boat and the cockpit, a radar detector, and an AIS receiver complete my navigation and communication equipment.
I have a set of 3 service batteries of 300 amps from 2023, an engine battery from 2017, a cable reel extension with various plugs, an automatic dock charger 110 - 220/12V, and a propeller shaft alternator to be reinstalled. Two 220 Volt circuits (one for the dock and one internal) are available, as well as two 12V to 220V converters of 350W and 2000W for small appliances and tools.
I offer 1 aft cabin with double berths and a wardrobe, a forecabin with a double berth, a washbasin and a wardrobe, a head with WC and shower with hot and cold water to be put back into service, and a aft cabin converted into a storage area for various equipment. A bilge pump for drying the hull is also present.
Bilge Equipment
In the bilge, you will find a plastic diesel tank of 180 liters cleaned in 2024, an aluminum water tank of 220 liters, a plastic drinking water tank of 80 liters, a diving bottle with harness and regulator, diving and underwater fishing equipment, a 16 m² staysail, a storm jib, a mainsail from 1992, a genoa, two spis including one with a sock, an asymmetric spi, six life jackets, six harnesses, two very complete toolboxes, a sewing kit, small tools, a drill, a jigsaw, a shears, a sander, a grinder, a welding torch, oil filters, diesel filters, and various mechanical, electrical, and electronic repair materials, including an unused GPS.
A folding electric bicycle from 2017 is also available, with a battery in good condition but an electronic problem.
Why is the Legend 36 interesting?
The Legend 36 is an exceptional sailboat for several reasons. First, its aluminum hull and plastic deck ensure great durability and resistance to the elements. Its Volvo engine of 29 HP has been carefully maintained and revised, ensuring optimal reliability. The navigation and communication equipment is complete and modern, with devices such as an Autohelm 6000 pilot, a Raytheon SL70 radar, and an AIS transponder.
The Legend 36 is also equipped with renewable energy systems such as solar panels and wind generators, which provide a certain energy autonomy. The safety equipment is complete, with life jackets, harnesses, and a 4-person liferaft. Finally, the interior of the boat is spacious and well-equipped, with comfortable cabins and a functional head.
In summary, the Legend 36 is a versatile, well-equipped sailboat ready to sail, offering comfort, safety, and autonomy for unforgettable maritime adventures.
